Whats Your Printer's Email Addresses!

Whats Your Printer's Email Addresses!

Surprised! but true, the future printers will get their own email ids. HP working on the next generation of web connected printers, which will have something that no other consumer printer has had before, an email address to call their own. H.P. introduces a fleet of printers with Web access, their own e-mail addresses and touch screens. These products should open up new ways for people to print from Web services like Google Docs, and from smartphones and devices like the iPad from Apple.

As the need for printing declines with the broadening availability of cloud access, HP is having to rethink its strategy in the business. According to a report over at the New York Times, the answer lies in giving each new connected printer a dedicated email addy, which would enable users to fire off an image snapped on their smartphone and have it waiting for them when they get back home.
Also the printing from Google Documents and Spreadsheets will be easy enough, and we also hope to see Picasa integration as well. Surely that the new devices will have a robust security suite that'll filter who can and can't dictate the print function via email.

H.P.’s engineers working on the e-mail address as an easy, familiar way for people to send print jobs to the Web-ready printers. For example, you take a photo with a phone, e-mail it to your printer’s address and have the printout waiting for you at home. Or, you can share the printer’s e-mail address with family and friends.

That printer will range of price from $99 to $400, just about everyone will be able to buy in. This type of technology could make finding and using a printer at an airport, hotel or office easier as well. H.P.’s approach has caught the attention of Google, and the companies have formed a partnership so that people can send jobs from things like Google Docs and Calendar to H.P.’s Web printers.
